Charles Goodman Insurance Agency began in 1955 when Charles Goodman decided that serving the people of New York required a novel approach. His idea was to deliver personally tailored insurance products via a family-run business model, and those values have remained vital to the company’s success. Although the firm expanded and even absorbed other entities from its original Manhattan headquarters, it never gave up the personal touch that continues to differentiate it from its competitors.
The firm operated out of the same John Street location for 25 years before moving to a new address that allowed it to provide better service and access a wider range of clientele. Similarly, the new base of operations made things easier for many consumers, especially those who didn’t care to slog through the city to manage the details of their insurance policy.
As an independent insurance agency, Charles Goodman Insurance Agency prides itself on its ability to provide individuals with impartial advice. Its unique consultations are designed to clarify the inherently complex nature of insurance policies and prevent surprises. Because it’s not bound to any particular product or brand, it can maintain its integrity and help consumers construct policies that suit their needs. The company’s strong commitments have earned it stellar industry credentials, including partnerships with Fireman’s Fund, AIG Private Client Group, PURE, Travelers, Progressive, ACE and Chubb.
Unlike many agencies, Charles Goodman Insurance Agency has retained a unique perspective over the years. The founders’ early days as insurance lawyers who worked largely with high-net-worth clients gave them the insight to understand how the insurance trade really functioned, but they also learned how industry changes can impact clients from all walks of life. As the company grew along with its clients and shared their trials, its 15 staff members developed a sense of empathy that has carried through to this day and is reflected in the substantive advice they routinely provide.
Charles Goodman Insurance Agency doesn’t claim to offer one-size-fits-all solutions; from commercial clients to private clients, everyone’s needs are different. By creating a bespoke service that lets people build policies that facilitate their goals, however, the company has made it easier for countless individuals to provide for their loved ones, protect their investments and maintain their own high standards of living.
After two generations of operation, Charles Goodman Insurance Agency remains family-owned, accountable and client-oriented. The company firmly hopes to maintain these standards and values so that it can continue to assist the people of New York.
